Inter Milan Teabags Ac Milan Funny Meme
The Scudetto race took a major turn this weekend (catch all the action on Paramount+) with Napoli and AC Milan both failing to win so Inter Milan gained important points in the title race, moving them to within two points of their crosstown rival with a match in hand. The Rossoneri's second draw in a row against Torino was a disappointing result for the fans while a full Stadio Diego Maradona wasn't enough to bring a victory to Luciano Spalletti's side against a very solid Fiorentina which won again against Napoli just like they did in the Coppa Italia. Elsewhere Juventus won against Cagliari while AS Roma made a late comeback against Salernitana at home meaning the race for the top four remains unchanged as Juve keeps their five point cushion on Jose Mourinho's men.

Inter Milan are back
It was a huge win for Inter Milan at San Siro. The Nerazzurri finally won back-to-back matches for the first time in 2022 and are now back on track in the Scudetto race. It wasn't just that Nicolò Barella and Edin Dzeko's goals propelled the team but the fact they ran up just over 2.70 expected goals is a great sign. It's not exactly a surprise but when the team has over 2.5 xG they're great with a 9-3-1 record. Dzeko really stepped up in the absence of Lautaro Martinez who was suspended through injuries, and managed an eye-popping six shots and 1.28 xG on the way to his goal. Inter Milan play next weekend away against Spezia and will need another victory in order to put even more pressure on their rivals. Still, after Milan's draw, Inter's fate are now fully in their own hands, if they win the rest of their matches they'll win the title for a second year running
How did AC Milan and Napoli choke?
AC Milan are going trough a difficult moment and drew against Torino on Sunday. For Stefano Pioli's side, this is the second draw in a row and the main issue is scoring goals. The Rossoneri have only scored four goals in the last six matches, while they've had five clean sheets in the last five. Apart of the results it's clear that it's not an easy moment for AC Milan and they are struggling to create chances. Milan's defense is impeccable, those five clean shots are accompanied by only 0.8 xG allowed per match over that time, the second best total in Italy's top flight. In attack they're only averaging 1.6 xG over those matches, which while it's better than the 0.6 goals per match they're scoring is still good only for the eighth best in Serie A. This lack of attacking form is something they need to fix as soon as possible if they want to be part of the Scudetto race until the end.
Napoli lost against Fiorentina at home and it cost them an opportunity the be at the top of the table but Vincenzo Italiano's team has been a very difficult side to beat this year. They proved it once again on Sunday afternoon at the Maradona. Still this result doesn't raise alarm bells the same way Milan's does. Napoli played well enough to win but Fiorentina's great finishing carried the day. Fiorentina only generated 0.82 xG from their 11 shots, but turned that into three goals. So, while this was clearly a lost opportunity for Napoli, they don't have any obvious problems in their approach that need fixing the way Milan do.
AS Roma keep rolling
Jose Mourinho's AS Roma are in good shape and that was proved again after that Giallorossi won against Salernitana in a late comeback on Sunday. After conceding the opening goal of the match, AS Roma scored two goals after the 80th minute and won the game. They are fully in the race for the fifth place and that's where Jose Mourinho wants to end up. At the moment the fight for the European spots is as exciting as the Scudetto race with Roma, Lazio, Atalanta and Fiorentina all within six points as they compete for fifth and sixth place.
